The businessman Xavier Niel (individual shareholder of Le Monde) has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire a majority share of the 34% of the Nice-Matin newspaper owned by the Belgian company Nethys, he stated on Sunday, June 16, in a press release sent to AFP.
“The goal of this operation is indeed to support the development strategy of the titles and their derivatives, in strict respect of the history and identity of the newspapers, with the ambition of reinforcing their editorial independence while building a sustainable economic model,” the statement further specifies.
