A week before the start of the school year, Christian Estrosi, during a press briefing, detailed the measures implemented to ensure the health safety of kindergarten and primary students and staff.

โ€œWe are ready to welcome the children,โ€ said the Mayor of Nice in the presence of the Academy Inspector Miche-Jean Flocโ€™h, who in turn wished for โ€œa vigilant and reassuring return.โ€

On Tuesday, September 1st, school returns will be staggered to prevent all children from arriving at the same time, and the staff will be wearing masks.

If mask-wearing is extended to CM1 and CM2* pupils, two fabric masks will be provided free of charge by the city of Nice to the 6,000 to 7,000 children affected by this measure.

Schoolchildren will have to strictly adhere to health rules, which may evolve depending on the situation: wash their hands upon arriving at school, as well as before meals and after using the restroom. Moreover, in the canteen, meals will be served at the table, and they will almost not be able to move around in the cafeteria.

Increased attention will be paid to cleaning, disinfection, and ventilation of premises and equipment. The staff, more than 2,300 people distributed across various professional categories, have received the necessary information and provisions in this regard.

Everything has been planned and implemented for the start of the school year and the autumn period to go as smoothly as possible.

The Mayor of Nice has appealed for the collaboration of parents, whose role is essential, for example, not to send their children to school if they have a fever of 38ยฐC or show symptoms of Covid-19.

Christian Estrosi also asked parents to demonstrate civic responsibility… on this point, given past experiences, there is no reason to be too optimistic!
