Last Friday, the Departmental Council for Citizenship and Autonomy (CDCA) was officially established, marking a new stage in the local implementation of the law concerning the Adaptation of Society to Aging, known as the “ASV” law, adopted on December 28, 2015.

This law has introduced significant changes to policies in the areas of aging and disability, with major impacts for the Departmental Council, the leading entity for human solidarity, which has been long committed to supporting seniors and people with disabilities. Each year, it dedicates more than 30% of its total budget to this cause.

Presided over by Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Department, the CDCA replaces the Departmental Consultative Council for Disabled Persons (CDCPH) and the Departmental Committee for Retirees and Elderly Persons (CODERPA). Its objective is to strengthen participatory democracy at the local level and facilitate the co-construction of territorial public policies in consultation with users and their families, local institutional representatives, and professionals in the fields of aging and disability.
