After performing his last forward somersault at the age of 88 in the gymnasium named after him in La Trinitรฉ, Charlie Trona, a gymnastics legend from the 1950s, passed away yesterday.
Hailing from a Nice family for more than four centuries, Charly Trona, aged 91, bid farewell to mats, parallel bars, and other beams. A great gymnastics champion, he began his career at the age of 6. Following his career, which notably included winning the French championship, he decided to pass on his passion for gymnastics. He performed for about twenty years in music hall shows along the French Riviera. A few years later, in addition to his passion for woodworking, Charly decided to become a teacher to maintain a connection with gymnasiums.
A love for this art that would never leave him, as he continued to teach several classes a week to young talents who secretly dreamed of achieving the same success as their teacher.
