The New Provence Côte d’Azur Line selected as a priority in the transport plan.

The Infrastructure Orientation Council proposed in a report submitted to the government yesterday a review of investment projects in the transport sector for the next twenty years.

Minister Élisabeth Borne intends to rely on this report to set transport development priorities across the territory. A law will be presented in April.

Among these projects, a large number have been sacrificed by the Infrastructure Orientation Council. The new Provence-Côte d’Azur line project was selected among 5 other major intercity connection projects.

The report primarily recommends that the new line undergo improvements around Marseille, Toulon, and Nice. In Marseille Saint-Charles, an underground station (which would no longer be a dead-end) should emerge. On the Côte d’Azur, the Nice-Cannes section, and (much later) the Aubagne-Toulon and Cannes-Le Muy sections should see improvements.

The Saint-Augustin Multimodal Exchange Hub is included. This structuring facility is fundamental for the development of economic activities and will significantly impact the daily travel of the locals by improving mobility.

The entire network will benefit from these works, which are expected to start as early as 2018.

Christian Estrosi, in his triple capacity as Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and Deputy President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, is fully satisfied with this news: “I am delighted that the new line is affirmed as a priority, with the essential step being the need to restructure the Marseille and Nice hubs.”
