Olivier Véran was interviewed on the France 2 television news set regarding future plans against Covid-19 after the Christmas holidays.
The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, indicated during his appearance on the France 2 TV set that a 6 PM curfew could be enforced starting January 2, 2021.
This idea is being considered in certain regions of France, particularly in the Grand-Est and Alpes-Maritimes, which are two of the most affected areas in terms of Covid figures and new cases of infections. An idea that satisfies the mayor of Nice:
The public health council @VilledeNice which I preside over recommended yesterday measures avoiding a local lockdown and its consequences. I therefore welcome the government’s decision for an anticipated curfew in certain territories mentioned by @olivierveran.

Olivier Véran also indicated that the vaccine against the virus will be available by the end of January for “healthcare professionals aged 50 and over”. “Then it will be time for the general population” added the Minister of Health in response to criticisms about the slow pace of the vaccination campaign which started last Sunday and continues at the beginning of this week in Indre-et-Loire, Lille, and Lyon.
Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, fewer than a hundred people have been vaccinated, although the goal is to reach one million by next February. Olivier Véran concluded on the subject of temporarily closed cultural venues by explaining that it is not for him to comment and that “decisions will be announced during the course of next week”.
