This Friday, the 25th Congress of the Association for Endangered European Languages and Cultures (ALCEM) will be inaugurated by Robert González-Quevedo, President of ALCEM, and André Gabriel, Secretary General of the Félibrige.
The main objective of the ALCEM congress is to draw attention to endangered languages in front of society and the relevant authorities.
Thus, ALCEM will offer its congress participants as well as the general public numerous presentations on the theme “Minority Languages and Cultures, What Future?”
The opening of the congress will be followed at 5:30 PM by a lecture from Michel Compan (historian) titled “Nice, its History, its Language.”
Created in 1965, ALCEM (Association for Endangered European Languages and Cultures) aims to defend endangered languages and cultures by working towards their recognition, respect, and promotion.
