OGC Nice: a former player trained at the club is going to sign with… Monaco

A true product of Nice’s training academy who left the club a few seasons ago is set to return to the French Riviera.

Born on December 27, 1999, in the capital of the Cรดte dโ€™Azur, Malang Sarr completed all his training with OGC Nice, starting at the age of 6 in the youth teams of his beloved club.

It was during the 2016-2017 season that the central defender of Senegalese origin made his debut with the professional team. In his first appearance on August 14, 2016, against Stade Rennais for the opening match, he scored the only goal of the game, allowing Nice to kick off their campaign.

After 4 years and 119 matches (3 goals) in the red and black jersey, Malang Sarr chose not to extend his contract with the Gym and signed with Chelsea. Upon his arrival in London in August 2020, he was loaned to Porto. Last year, he remained in Thomas Tuchelโ€™s squad but participated in only 8 matches across all competitions.

As soon as the summer transfer window opened, Chelsea expressed their intent to sell the former Aiglon. AS Monaco, the most interested club, seems to have reached an agreement with the new management at the Blues, and Sarr would thus return to the lands where he grew up.

A logical and understandable decision, but one that will surely upset the Gym supportersโ€ฆ
