When it’s Wednesday, it’s movie time. Today, we present our selection of films for the week, guiding you through the dark cinemas.

1. The New Woman by Léa Todorov

In 1900, Lili d’Alengy, a famous Parisian courtesan, has a shameful secret. Her daughter Tina, was born with a disability. Reluctant to take care of a child who threatens her career, she decides to leave Paris for Rome. There she meets Maria Montessori, a female doctor developing a revolutionary educational method for children then labeled as “deficient”. But Maria also hides a secret: a child born out of wedlock. Together, the two women will help each other gain their place in this man’s world and write History.

2. In the Shoes of Blanche Houellebecq by Guillaume Nicloux

Michel Houellebecq travels to Pointe-à-Pitre, in Guadeloupe, accompanied by his bodyguard Luc, for the release of his new novel. There he meets Blanche Gardin, who presides over a look-alike contest held in his honor. He attends the contest, but extraordinary events disrupt their plans.

3. Lucky Winners by Maxime Govare

4. There is Still Tomorrow by Paola Cortellesi

Married to Ivano, Delia, mother of three, lives in Rome in the second half of the 40s. The city is then torn between the hope born from Liberation and the material difficulties caused by the recently ended war. Faced with her authoritarian and violent husband, Delia finds comfort only with her friend Marisa with whom she shares moments of lightheartedness and intimate confidences. Their gloomy routine ends in spring, as the entire excited family prepares to celebrate the imminent engagement of their eldest daughter, Marcella. But the arrival of a mysterious letter will change everything and push Delia to find the courage to imagine a better future, not just for herself.

5. Scandalously Yours by Thea Sharrock

Littlehampton, 1920. When Edith Swan starts receiving anonymous letters filled with insults, Rose Gooding, her Irish neighbor with a free spirit and colorful language, is quickly accused of the crimes. The whole small town, concerned with this affair, gets involved. Police officer Gladys Moss, soon followed by the women of the town, conducts her own investigation: they suspect that something is amiss and that Rose might not be the real culprit, a victim of the abusive morals of her time
