More than successful French Championships in Strasbourg for Charlotte Bonnet. She broke her own record in the 200 meters with a time of 1:55.80 and won the 100 meters in 53 seconds and 65 hundredths.

She will compete in both distances at the World Championships in Budapest.

Charlotte Bonnet is the French champion of the 100 meters. She won the final on Saturday evening in Strasbourg, with a time of 53 seconds and 65 hundredths. The swimmer from Olympic Nice Natation had already secured her spot for the 200 meters. She will thus compete in both distances at the World Championships.

The 22-year-old from Nice lowered her 200-meter record from 1 minute 56 seconds 16 (set on June 6, 2015, in Canet) to 1 minute 55 seconds 80. This ranks her as the third-best performer worldwide of the season, behind Sweden’s Michelle Coleman (1:55.64) and Australia’s Emma McKeon (1:55.68).

“I was emotional because I’ve wanted to do this for a long time,” Bonnet admitted.

Beyond the symbolism, breaking this time barrier signifies a change in dimension.

Equally at ease in the 100 meters, Charlotte Bonnet won in 53.65. She achieved her best performance in this distance.
