Indycar: Théo Pourchaire returns to Indianapolis

Latest News

We are back on track this weekend for the Indianapolis Grand Prix, with Arrows McLaren’s new favorite, Théo Pourchaire, who has unanimously earned his place in Indycar.

With rather mixed free practice and qualifying sessions, Théo Pourchaire starts 18th on the grid. Things do not go as planned, as the Arrows McLaren driver finds himself in trouble and secures the 22nd spot at the start of the race.

Théo Pourchaire is 22nd in the ranking and quickly catches up to Simpson, just 1.3 seconds behind his competitor. The Grasse native makes his pit stop on lap 36 and ends up at the back of the pack. However, he manages to quickly make up for his slight delay and moves up to the 21st position. Théo Pourchaire demonstrates, as he did in Long Beach, that he is effective on race strategy, gradually gaining ground. For a debut in Indycar, Théo Pourchaire shows a very good pace, achieving the 18th position midway through the race.

He slowly closes in on his French teammate Romain Grosjean. After Lucas Ghiotto spins, Théo Pourchaire takes advantage and moves up to the 17th position after losing three places. Théo Pourchaire delivers an exciting battle with Ericsson but fails to surpass him.

A new victory for Alex Palou, followed by Will Power and Christian Lundgaard. Théo Pourchaire finishes his race in 17th position, fiercely defending his spot against Josef Newgarden throughout the final lap. With an admirable race, we can commend his first official performances as a confirmed driver for Arrow McLaren in Indycar at the start of this season.
