Citizen Mobilization: “A Roof for All: Deterioration of Reception and Care Conditions for Asylum Seekers in the Alpes-Maritimes”

Latest News

In response to the scandalous situation imposed on asylum seekers in the 06 department, associations have decided to take action to put an end to the lawlessness that has taken hold in our department by publicly exposing the human rights violations acknowledged and assumed by the Prefect:

At least 30 familiesโ€”around 200 people, including infants, children, pregnant women, elderly, and sick individualsโ€”have been left homeless for months, without food, medical care, and in insecurity. Although their asylum applications should be registered within 3 days, or at worst within 10 days (marking the start of social support), some families are only being summoned 1 to 2 months later!

There is a failure in the SOCIAL EMERGENCY department (art.L345-2-2 of the CASF), under the Prefectโ€™s responsibility, which, through the 115 emergency number, rejects requests due to a lack of space or political will.

Isolated asylum seekers are being rounded up and expelled to Italy without any legal procedure;

Unaccompanied minors (MNA), who are supposed to be protected and cared for by ASE (Social Welfare for Children), are being readmitted to Italy or placed in hotels or student residences with no social or educational support whatsoever.

Speeches from association representatives will provide you with information on these various issues and will share with you our observations, our proposals, and the means we will use to achieve them.
