With yesterday’s result, the era of the grand coalition between the CDU-CSU and SPD is coming to an end and will not be reissued.

The far-right party AfD (13%) enters the federal parliament for the first time. The Social Democrats of the SPD (20/21%), who were part of the ruling alliance with the CDU-CSU (33%), are choosing the opposition.
It is highly likely that Angela Merkel will decide to find a compromise with the FDP (liberals, 10%) and the Grünen (greens, 9%) to form an alliance government, known as Jamaica for the colors of the three parties that make up the coalition (yellow, green, black), the same as the flag of the Caribbean island.
