Latest News

The inauguration of the competency center in additive manufacturing took place at the Mediterranean Institute of Risk, Environment and Sustainable Development (IMREDD) on Tuesday, July 9th. It was an opportunity to present the “Smart City Innovation Center”.

The University of Cรดte dโ€™Azur through its Institute of Innovation and Partnerships IMREDD, the Observatory of Cรดte dโ€™Azur, and the CNRS inaugurated the competency center in additive manufacturing. The goal? To pool material and human resources to meet increasingly diverse and numerous demands. In doing so, it supports the acceleration of projects toward the industry of the future on the territory.

A Collective Effort

Designed around the ” Smart City Innovation Center“, the IMREDD promotes industrial research and experimental development in the service of innovation. Created in 2020, the Institute focuses on a societal challenge: “the intelligent and resilient territory in the face of all environmental issues.” With the aim of resource-sharing and complementing expertise on a regional scale, the University of Cรดte dโ€™Azur collaborates with other innovation support systems in the area.

The inauguration took place from 10 AM to 12 PM, starting with a welcome speech by the director of IMREDD, Emmanuel Tric. This was followed by official speeches by Jeanick Brisswalter, President of the University of Cรดte dโ€™Azur, and Stรฉphane Mazevet, Director of the Observatory of the Cรดte dโ€™Azur: “dedicated to Earth and Universe sciences, it is about combining the different strengths present on the Cรดte dโ€™Azur.”

User Testimonials

The inauguration continued with the presentation of the Additive Manufacturing Competency Center by Arnaud Zenerino, R&D Engineer in additive manufacturing and materials at IMREDD. Next were user testimonials on various topics, including those from Christophe Bailet and Stรฉphane Malaussena, followed by a testimony on the co-development between the Lagrange Laboratory and IMREDD by Sรฉbastien Ottogalli.

Stรฉphane Magana discussed metal additive manufacturing, an expertise of TEAM Henri-Fabre within the regional platform: “We support industries to develop their competitiveness through innovation and the integration of future industry technologies. We want to raise awareness among companies about what can be done with 3D printing.”
