Municipal elections in Nice: the French Communist Party (PCF) has a plan for the residents

Latest News

The French Communist Party (PCF) of Nice and its allies aim to offer an alternative to current policies. Faced with the challenges of housing, transportation, and purchasing power, they call for giving the city back to its residents.

In Nice, the municipality led by Christian Estrosi, mayor for 18 years, is regularly criticized for its priorities focused on luxury tourism and projects perceived as favoring a wealthy minority. According to the PCF, these choices worsen the inequalities in a city where many residents struggle to find housing, get around, or make ends meet.

On January 22, the New Popular Front (NFP), bringing together ecologists, the Socialist Party, and the Communist Party, met to address the issue of housing in Nice. In a statement, they condemned real estate speculation and local policies neglecting social housing. They wish for every Niรงois to have access to decent and affordable housing and plan to propose concrete measures soon.

Giving the City Back to the Niรงois

The PCF asserts its desire to build a municipal project that meets the concrete needs of the residents. Their strategy involves uniting left-wing forces. They believe a three-way race could defeat Christian Estrosi and ร‰ric Ciotti, labeled as “two estranged brothers”, and also denounce past alliances with the far right.

These initiatives are part of a broader dynamic: ending policies deemed detached from daily realities and putting citizens at the center of municipal decisions. For the PCF, “Nice is not just the Negresco and the green corridor.”

By multiplying meetings and public debates, the NFP hopes to gather widespread support around a program that puts housing, purchasing power, and transportation at the heart of municipal priorities.
