The South region has launched several initiatives for the 2024-2025 school year to ease family expenses and promote equality among high school students. From financial aid to innovative educational initiatives, this year promises to be full of new developments.
A financial support of €500 for high school students
For this school year, the South region offers high school students savings of up to €500. This is achievable through various practical schemes. Among the key measures, the e-PASS Jeunes provides €80 in aid for access to culture and sports. Another new feature is the European Youth Card offered to all young people who activate this pass.
For transportation, the PASS ZOU! Études allows young people aged 3 to 25 to travel by bus and train for less than €8 per month. The Pass Santé Jeunes offers over €300 in health expense reimbursements for those aged 15 to 26. Special attention is given to scholarship students, receiving an additional €100 to subscribe to a complementary health insurance. These initiatives are implemented by Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region.
Uniform experiment in favor of equality
In a spirit of equality and solidarity, two high schools in the South region, Jean d’Ormesson and Les Palmiers, are experimenting with a uniform this year. Clothing comparisons are thus eliminated: students in these schools have received outfits worth €250. The South Region covers €150 of this initiative, while the rest is funded by the State. This distribution aims to ensure that families are not financially affected.
Although this initiative is still in the trial phase, other establishments such as Ronchèse School in Nice are already implementing school uniforms in the region.
A new educational era with the Jacques Chirac International School City
The 2024 school year marks the inauguration of the Jacques Chirac International School City in Marseille. Thanks to co-financing by the South Region, this establishment offers a distinct educational proposition, including international language sections from primary to high school. Consequently, the goal is to prepare young people in the region for an international outlook while strengthening their language skills and preparing them for global citizenship.
A future-oriented school year
Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region, states that “This 2024 school year is under the sign of equality and development for all our high school students.” Indeed, thanks to the measures put in place, young people in the region benefit not only from substantial financial support but also from easier access to transportation and healthcare. Additionally, they now enjoy an unprecedented openness to the world thanks to the new International School City. Thus, these measures aim to create a fairer and more inclusive educational environment, preparing young people for the challenges of tomorrow.
