Nice invests 4 million euros to modernize the Lépante, Raimbaldi, and Notre-Dame neighborhoods, with projects focusing on development, safety, and services. The city also strengthens citizen participation through territorial councils, neighborhood meetings, and a participatory budget.
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, outlined the upcoming projects for the Lépante, Raimbaldi, and Notre-Dame neighborhoods. In front of more than 500 people, he announced an investment of 4 million euros to continue the developments initiated since 2019.
For several years, the city of Nice has undertaken efforts to modernize its center. Following an initial investment of 7.5 million euros, this new funding will be used to enhance, secure, and improve access to services in these neighborhoods.
The program includes seven main projects. Notre-Dame Avenue will be redeveloped to facilitate traffic and accessibility. Security will be enhanced with the installation of a municipal police intervention unit. A medical center will open on Rue d’Italie to improve access to healthcare.
Other actions target mobility and heritage. A Cycling House will be established on Rue de Suisse to promote sustainable transport. The restoration of the Notre-Dame Basilica will continue, and a mural will highlight iconic figures of the city.
Finally, facilities for families will be modernized. The municipal play center “L’Île aux Enfants” and the reception area “Lilobul” will be renovated and expanded.
A desire to involve residents
Beyond the work, the city wishes to strengthen citizen participation. A program has been adopted in the municipal council to encourage resident involvement.
Several measures will be introduced. Territorial Councils will be strengthened and equipped with an updated charter. Neighborhood meetings will take place every fortnight to gather residents’ expectations. A digital platform will allow people to track and vote on local projects. Finally, a participatory budget of 1.5 million euros will give residents a direct role in certain decisions.
The goal of this approach is to make residents actors in urban transformations. The city ensures that regular follow-ups will be implemented to adapt these measures based on citizens’ feedback. With these initiatives, Nice aims to strengthen the connection between institutions and residents.
