The Cannes Festival, which will take place from May 13 to 24, has revealed its jury. Under the presidency of Juliette Binoche, eight artists from around the world will have the task of judging the films in competition.

The Cannes Festival has unveiled the composition of its jury for its 78th edition. The president will be the French actress Juliette Binoche. She will be accompanied by eight figures from the cinema and literature worlds.

Among them, the American actress and filmmaker Halle Berry, Indian director Payal Kapadia, Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher, and Franco-Moroccan writer Leïla Slimani. On the male side, the jury will include Congolese director Dieudo Hamadi, Korean filmmaker Hong Sangsoo, Mexican director Carlos Reygadas, and American actor Jeremy Strong.

These artists will have the task of judging the 22 films in the official competition and awarding the Palme d’Or, on Saturday, May 24. The event will be broadcast live on France Télévision.

Among the expected films this year are “Jeune mères” by the Dardenne brothers, “Un simple accident” by Jafar Panahi, “The Phoenician Scheme” by Wes Anderson, and “La petite dernière” by Hafsia Herzi. The awards will notably reveal the successor to Sean Baker’s “Anora,” the 2024 Palme d’Or.

Juliette Binoche, highly anticipated in this role, had declared at the beginning of the year: “I look forward to sharing these moments of life with the members of the jury and the audience.”

The opening ceremony, planned for May 13, also promises a special moment. Mylène Farmer will perform in what has been described as an “unprecedented” show, the details of which remain secret for now.

The official selection of the festival has been enriched with new films in recent days. Two feature films, “Die, My Love” by Lynne Ramsay and “Mother and Child” by Saeed Roustaee, join the competition. Other projects, led by Kirsten Stewart and Ethan Coen, will be screened in the “Un Certain Regard” section.

After an edition marked last year by the presidency of Greta Gerwig, director of “Barbie,” and the presence of Omar Sy and Hirokazu Kore-eda on the jury, the 2025 Cannes Festival promises to be under the banner of artistic diversity.
