Walking from Nice to Paris: The Extraordinary Adventure of Yasmine, Committed to the Fight Against Cancer

Latest News

Monday, June 30, Yasmine Abidellaoui will set off from Nice to reach Paris on foot. A walk of more than nine hundred kilometers to raise public awareness in the fight against cancer and to collect funds for the cause. An extraordinary challenge, supported by the League Against Cancer and the NGO Soroptimist.

It is a human and solidarity challenge. In the small garden of the restaurant at the Victorine studios, Yasmine Abidellaoui presented her project: to walk more than nine hundred kilometers between Nice and Paris, in six weeks. Alongside her, the League Against Cancer. And a friend in a car to ensure her safety, which is essential. The objectives are clear: to raise public awareness and collect funds for research, aid to patients, and caregivers. A deeply human challenge, for her and for an entire cause, which she is determined to advance.

A Challenge Achieved with Heart

I lost my mother when I was seventeen to an orphan cancer. I needed to pay tribute. So one day, I called the League Against Cancer to propose my project,” explains Yasmine Abidellaoui. This project is primarily hers. A walk from Nice to Paris for a cause close to her heart, that of the League Against Cancer.

I told myself that for me too, it was possible. Three years ago, I never would have thought of walking from Nice to Paris,” she jokes, before adding: “I hope to inspire others to do it, to surpass themselves for a cause.”

The Route from Nice to Paris

On this long journey, Yasmine will make several stops. Among these stages, Marseille, Avignon, Lyon. She will walk between twenty and fifty kilometers a day. “I havenโ€™t traveled much in my life, but I really wanted to stop in Marseille because itโ€™s one of my favorite cities. And I donโ€™t know Lyon, but this would be the chance,” explained the 21-year-old woman.

Each stop in the cities will be marked by activities. In Marseille, there will notably be a time for exchange with patients and healthcare professionals, as well as a dancing sports event. There will also be a time for exchange at the Avignon Festival as well as other sporting and musical mobilizations at the other planned stops.

The logistics will be complicated during these six weeks, during which one stop per night is planned. “Either AirBnBs or camping, we’re young,โ€ laughs Yasmine. The young woman can also count on the presence of Soroptimist Clubs, an NGO made up of women engaged in professional and social life.

A Project Resonating as a Mobilization Effort

The NGO Soroptimist has mobilized for this challenge, through sponsoring various Soroptimist International clubs in Nice Azur and the Southeast region. It is a key partner helping her finance and provide the essential equipment for her journey. A necessary support to ensure Yasmine has the best conditions.

The Committee of Alpes-Maritimes of the League Against Cancer is also fully mobilized in this project. The 103 departmental committees of the League have been specifically engaged. The League Against Cancer also ensures the success of the initiative by sharing news related to Yasmine’s journey, with the aim of showcasing this initiative.

This walk in favor of the fight against cancer is part of a dynamism of collective mobilization. Note that all funds raised will be directly donated to the League Against Cancer. A Leetchi donation page will notably be available as soon as Yasmine starts. To follow this extraordinary adventure, visit Yasmineโ€™s Instagram, Tiktok and Facebook pages. And in person, Monday, June 30 at seven a.m. on Rauba Capeu quay, for the grand departure.
