End of term for the middle schoolers of the Youth Departmental Council

Latest News

At the end of last week, the young members of the Departmental Youth Council presented their work conducted over two years. The closing session was marked by the presence of elected officials and representatives from the National Education system.

Gathered within the Departmental Youth Council (CDJ) for the period 2023-2025, about sixty middle school students concluded their mandate at an official session organized in Nice. This meeting allowed the young councilors to report on the projects they have championed over two years, connected to two main themes: the prevention of sexual violence among youth and the preservation of water resources.

Among those present at this closing session: Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, president of the Alpes-Maritimes department, Alexandra Martin, MP and departmental councilor, Xavier Beck, Joรซlle Arini, Vanessa Lellouche as well as Laurent Lemercier, Academic Inspector.

The middle schoolers mobilized around societal issues

The first commission allowed the development of several educational tools around the concept of consent. The youth notably conceived the “consentometer”, an interactive application, as well as a graduated ruler, a poster, and a video clip. A report with proposals was submitted to parliamentarians and presented to the president of the Senate, Gรฉrard Larcher.

The second commission placed a focus on water, a fragile and essential resource. In connection with the Water Plan 06, the youth designed an awareness campaign. It includes an educational video, a visual with a slogan, and reusable water bottles distributed in the departmentโ€™s middle schools.

At the closing of the session, Charles Ange Ginรฉsy praised the commitment of the young elected members: โ€œseeing the youth address such essential topics as child protection and ecological transition with such maturity is an immense pride. These young people are already the citizens of tomorrow, but above all the actors of the present.โ€

With this 10th term, the department affirms its ambition to involve youth in public issues. The next step: launching a new mandate at the start of the 2025 school year.
