Until August 31, Nicétoile will live to the rhythm of Blue Ocean. An immersive, free, and unprecedented experience that puts art at the service of the environment.
The Year of the Sea continues in Nice. Nearly a month after UNOC, the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur is not sparing any efforts. Behind the discovery and popularization of the oceanic universe, the main ambition is to raise public awareness about issues related to ocean conservation. Immersion within Blue Ocean.
Ocean Mode Activated
“So beautiful! What does it represent?” Around the central atrium of Nicétoile, questions are flying, and heads are nodding up and down. The reason is Ichtus: a 13m high kinetic artwork. Created by visual artist Daniel Mestanza, it seems to fascinate the audience, who take the time to stop and admire it. Ichtus represents an airy aquatic ballet with dozens of animated luminous fish. “I’m not sure I understand the concept. But you can clearly see the oceanic theme, which is at the heart of concerns right now in our city,” whispers Marie, a native of Nice.
A few meters away, Marc is more enthusiastic: “It’s a good initiative. Art is an excellent way to convey messages.” In addition to Ichtus, visitors can admire at all levels of the shopping center the photographs of Rafael Fernández Caballero, crowned Ocean Photographer of the Year 2024. Remarkable quality images that highlight marine biodiversity.
