Jean-Pierre Rivère leaves his position as president of OGC Nice after fourteen years at the helm of the club. He is replaced by Fabrice Bocquet.
A particular departure in the middle of the summer transfer window: after fourteen years at the head of OGC Nice, Jean-Pierre Rivère has left his role as president. Having arrived in 2011, he completely transformed the Côte d’Azur club. From a team fighting to stay in Ligue 1, he made it into a top-tier team. This change in stature was reflected by results: seven qualifications for European competitions in fourteen seasons. The management specified that Jean-Pierre Rivère will nevertheless remain close to the club by becoming President of the OGC Nice Endowment Fund. INEOS has chosen to appoint Fabrice Bocquet as the head of the club.
Jean-Pierre Rivère’s reaction
“A big thank you to all those who accompanied me during these wonderful years; it was an exceptional human adventure. The initial ambition was to position the club in the top half of the table and try to be European, and ultimately find an investor capable of supporting OGC Nice in its development. Thank you to INEOS for their presence, investment, and continuous support. OGC Nice is now a solid, structured, and ambitious club. Very pleased with the appointment of Fabrice Bocquet, who, with Florian Maurice and Franck Haise, will write very beautiful pages for our club. I leave with great confidence in the club’s future,” expressed Jean-Pierre Rivère, who will officially leave his position on August 20 next.
Fabrice Bocquet, the new president
General manager of the club since 2022, Fabrice Bocquet will be appointed chairman and CEO on August 20th. This decision was made directly by INEOS, continuing the project led in recent years. Fabrice Bocquet has, for the past three years, overseen the operational management of all activities. He will now have overall responsibility for OGC Nice. “I am aware of the responsibility that falls upon me and I thank the club’s owners for their trust. I will strive to be equal to this mission, with commitment and humility,” explained the club’s new chairman and CEO.
“INEOS’s commitment to OGC Nice remains absolute, and we have – naturally and with full confidence – chosen to entrust Fabrice Bocquet with the task of continuing the club’s development. Over the past three seasons, Fabrice has demonstrated his ability to lead the club with rigor, vision, and leadership. He has already laid the foundations for a high-performing and forward-looking organization,” stated Sir Jim Ratcliffe, owner of INEOS.
