The Nice-Côte d’Azur metropolis presented its commitment to the Green Key label, which highlights environmentally friendly tourism establishments, during a meeting with industry professionals.
Created by the association Teragir, the Green Key label distinguishes hotels, restaurants, and campsites involved in a sustainable tourism approach. It is based on criteria related to the management of water, energy, waste, and responsible purchasing.
During the meeting, Aranzazu Martin Plante, Green Key project manager, reminded that “France is currently the leading country in terms of the number of labeled establishments”.
Candidates must meet more than a hundred criteria, some of which are mandatory. The process involves an online platform and regular audits to verify long-term commitments.
According to the speaker, this monitoring ensures the credibility of the label and assists establishments in the continuous improvement of their practices.
The Metropolis and Restaurateurs’ Commitment
The metropolis supports professionals in their efforts, notably through training, workshops, and partial financial support for audits. The goal is to facilitate access to the label and encourage local initiatives.
Among the testimonials, Laetitia Pilati and her husband Julien Pilati, heads of the Maison Joia restaurant, received the 2026 jury favorite in the restaurant category. During this video conference, Laetitia Pilati shared their experience: “I was looking for a way to highlight our eco-friendly commitment”. She mentions daily work on short supply chains, waste reduction, and raising awareness among customers about responsible actions.
Florence Dupont, representative of Mama Shelter, emphasizes the importance of team involvement: “It’s a true collective project”. According to her, obtaining the label relies on the mobilization of the entire staff, from the kitchen to customer service.
In the metropolis territory, 81 establishments have been awarded the Green Key label.
