Since March 24, 2026, a direct connection links Nice to Newcastle. Three flights per week are scheduled. This opening is part of a development strategy on the French Riviera and in the northeast of England.
A new air connection is now operational between the French Riviera and northern England. Since Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the airline easyJet offers a direct connection between Nice and Newcastle. Three weekly rotations are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Tickets are available from 45 euros one way.
This opening is an addition to an already dense network departing from the azure airport. The airline claims the top market share position at the Nice platform. The offer reaches about fifty destinations. This new line marks an additional step in local development.
The Nice–Newcastle connection is based on a logic of short stays and leisure travel. The mid and end-of-week schedules allow for short getaways. The setup targets both British travelers and residents of the French Riviera.
The flights are operated with Airbus A320 or A319 aircraft at the rate of three round trips per week. The airline highlights a promotional fare including taxes and management fees, excluding options such as checked baggage.
A development strategy between two territories
The opening of this line is part of a broader dynamic. On the UK side, Newcastle is becoming an expanding base. Three aircraft are positioned there. Eleven new routes are announced for the summer season of 2026, including Nice. Activity is expected to more than double on this platform.
The global program plans for 19 new routes and more than 750 flights in 2026. Investments estimated at 60 million pounds accompany this development. The air development manager highlights the commercial stakes of this expansion: “the hundreds of thousands of low-cost seats, as well as the thousands of inclusive holidays already on sale, offer our passengers even more choice and value in preparing their summer holidays,” explains Leon McQuaid, director of air development at Newcastle Airport.
On the French Riviera side, Nice Airport continues to expand its international offer. The second airport in France, the platform is strengthening its links with the UK. The airline already operates several routes to this market. Eight connections are offered during the summer season.
The deputy general manager for France of easyJet emphasizes the network logic: “the opening of this new exclusive link to Newcastle illustrates our desire, as the leading airline in Nice in terms of market share, to meet the expectations of Azurean travelers, whether they want to reunite with loved ones or discover the riches of the northeast of England. easyJet continues to strengthen its network to offer even more choice and flexibility from Nice.”
A destination between heritage and nature
The link provides direct access to a destination that is still not well-connected to the French Riviera. Newcastle is located in the northeast of England. The city is distinguished by a marked industrial heritage and Victorian architecture visible in several neighborhoods.
The surrounding area also offers known historical sites. Hadrian’s Wall, a relic of the Roman era, is located nearby. Durham Cathedral is another cultural point of interest. The city is also associated with an active nightlife, with numerous pubs, bars, and festivals.
The surroundings attract enthusiasts of natural landscapes. Kielder Water Lake is presented as the largest artificial lake in Europe. Neighboring national parks and the Northumberland region offer open and sparsely urbanized spaces.
For the French Riviera, this opening diversifies connections to the UK. Traditional routes to London or Manchester remain dominant. The arrival of Newcastle broadens possibilities towards less directly connected territories.
With 21.3 million passengers transported in France in 2024, including 4.6 million from Nice Airport, the airline continues its development.
