On the occasion of the Cannes Festival, the Croisette thrives far beyond screenings and red carpet walks. For this 79th edition, Uber and Uber Eats are unveiling several unprecedented data from the previous edition on travel and consumption habits observed during the event, revealing the intense excitement that takes over the city during the fortnight.
The Cannes Festival causes travel to skyrocket
Each year, the Festival transforms Cannes into a city under logistical strain. In 2025, the Uber platform recorded a71% increase in ride requests compared to the weeks before the event.
The first Saturday of the Festival, May 17, 2025, proved to be the most intense moment of the fortnight, with activity 21% higher than the average observed on other days. Between screenings, private parties and red carpet walks, travel multiplies late into the night.
While the Croisette and Cannes train station remain strategic points, a new area has emerged as the main drop-off location: Franklin Roosevelt Square. A further sign of the evolution of traffic flows around the Palais des Festivals and the city’s iconic hotels.
The figures also reveal some anecdotes that highlight the exceptional nature of the event. The longest trip recorded during the 78th Festival connected Cannes to Florence, Italy, over a distance of more than 440 kilometers. Conversely, the shortest ride covered only 160 meters, proof that some festival-goers prefer to preserve their evening wear before walking the red carpet.
Another striking figure: a van ride billed at more than 794 euros for a 357-kilometer trip to Italy. An illustration of the high-end mobility level that now accompanies major international events on the Côte d’Azur.
Uber Eats, the new room service for festival-goers
The Festival is not lived solely in darkened theaters or at glamorous parties. The eating habits of visitors have also changed dramatically.
According to data provided by Uber Eats, meal orders increased by 60% during the Festival compared to an equivalent period the previous month. Tuesday, May 20, 2025 was the peak activity day of the fortnight.
Late-night usage is particularly notable. While dinner remains the preferred time for orders, more than a quarter of them were placed after 10 p.m. Between late screenings, business meetings and private parties, delivery becomes an essential service in daily Cannes life during the event.
Another notable trend: deliveries directly to the grand hotels on the Croisette. The JW Marriott, the Martinez, the Belle Plage, the Mondrian and the Carlton are among the establishments most affected by these orders.
Japanese gastronomy also seems to appeal to festival-goers. The largest order recorded was placed with Green Sushi for an amount exceeding 567 euros. Woodiz Pizza’s pizzas and Pitadine’s Italian specialties round out the podium of the highest bills.

A global showcase for Cannes
Beyond anecdote, these data above all illustrate the capacity of Cannes to absorb a massive influx of visitors from around the world. During the Festival, the city changes in scale and sees its population, habits and rhythms profoundly modified.
Mobility and delivery platforms thus become privileged observers of this temporary transformation. They reveal another facet of the Festival: that of a city operating almost 24 hours a day, driven by an event-based economy that has become essential for the appeal of the Côte d’Azur.
Between luxury, logistics and new consumption habits, the Cannes Festival appears more than ever as a showcase of new contemporary urban uses!
