At the Théâtre des Franciscains in Nice, the launch ceremony of the 10th edition of the “Moteur!” competition brought together young participants and cultural actors around a committed project in favor of expression, self-confidence and equal opportunities.

The National Theatre of Nice hosted the launch ceremony of the 10th edition of the “Moteur!” competition. The event took place in the presence of Marc Concas, representing the mayor, and Muriel Mayette-Holtz, director of the Theatre.

From the opening, this ceremony was presented as a significant and symbolic moment. Marc Concas described this event as “a precious instant”, highlighting a project that advocates equal opportunities for young people and promotes cohesion.

A competition in service of youth

Created in 2015, the “Moteur!” competition targets young people aged 14 to 22, from diverse backgrounds. Its objective is to offer them a space for expression and strengthen their self-confidence.

The principle is simple: each participant must create a short film of one minute thirty seconds to thank or pay tribute to a person who inspires them, whether it is a celebrity or someone close to them.

The competition is sponsored by Samuel Le Bihan and among the former jury presidents are big names such as Euzhan Palcy, Jonathan Cohen and Grand Corps Malade. For now, the 2026 jury president has not yet been announced. Applications are open until April 1st on the project website.

The Campus of Confidence, a collective experience

The competition is also part of a larger initiative with the “Campus of Confidence”, organized for the sixth time in Nice. This stay offers young people various activities such as slam poetry, theatre, public speaking and inspiring meetings, with the aim of developing their skills and self-esteem.

This year, nine of the 15 participants are from Nice. Despite having met only three days before the ceremony, a genuine cohesion has developed among them, giving rise to a strong group spirit and a collective dynamic.

End of the opening ceremony and thanks to the winners from the public.

A ceremony punctuated by the talents of young people

The ceremony began with a performance by Jacky Ido, who presented a slam written by himself. This artistic moment set the tone for an event marked by emotion and personal expression.

14 winners from all backgrounds were present for this opening ceremony. Their short films were screened and the subjects addressed were diverse and varied. Some young people chose to highlight family members, while others paid tribute to public figures.

Another exercise also marked the evening: each participant was invited to write a letter to their “worst enemy”. Through these texts, the young people sincerely addressed significant themes such as anxiety, shyness and love.

An edition officially launched

The ceremony concluded with a speech that officially declared open the 10th edition of the “Moteur!” competition.

Participants will thus be able to try their luck until April 1st. At stake, several prizes are offered: walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, a visit to YouTube’s offices, a paragliding flight or participation in the Campus of Confidence.

Through this new edition, the “Moteur!” competition confirms its ambition to offer young people a space for expression, to value their talents and to strengthen the bonds between them in a spirit of sharing and inclusion.
