Former Nice mayor Christian Estrosi was involved in a collision with professional cyclist Jérémy Lecroq on Friday, August 21 in Megève. The 31-year-old rider could see his season come to an end following this accident.
According to Le Dauphiné Libéré, a collision occurred on Friday, August 21 on the Mont-d’Arbois road in Megève, in Haute-Savoie. Christian Estrosi was driving when a professional cyclist collided with the vehicle.
The cyclist involved is Jérémy Lecroq, a member of the Saint-Michel – Preference Home – Auber 93 team. At 31 years old, the rider could be forced to end his season. Initial reports indicate that Christian Estrosi would not be at fault in this accident.
No emergency services intervention was necessary at the scene. At this stage, neither the former Nice mayor nor Jérémy Lecroq have publicly commented on the collision.
Jérémy Lecroq, a season now uncertain
The accident occurred on a downhill section, while Jérémy Lecroq was riding on the Mont-d’Arbois road. The rider had participated a few days earlier in the Polynormande, without finishing the race.
The situation comes at a time when the cyclist’s professional future is already uncertain. The Saint-Michel – Preference Home – Auber 93 team must indeed cease operations at the end of the season.
Jérémy Lecroq began his professional career in 2017 with Roubaix Lille Métropole. The rider then joined the Vital Concept project, which became B&B Hôtels, where he spent five seasons before the structure shut down.
In 2022, Jérémy Lecroq participated in his only Tour de France. A year as an amateur then preceded his return to professional racing. The rider found a professional team again in 2024 with Saint-Michel – Mavic – Auber 93.
An accident on a busy road
Christian Estrosi served as Nice’s mayor from 2008 to 2026 before his defeat in the municipal elections to Eric Ciotti. The former official is currently spending part of the summer in the Alps.
Cycling also holds a regular place in Nice’s recent history. The city notably hosts the finish of Paris-Nice and had been chosen as the starting point of the Tour de France in 2020 or more recently as the finish city of the 2026 Tour de France Femme.
