Christian Estrosi with police union members

The municipal police unions have called their members to protest against the government, which is turning a deaf ear to their demands.

pm_nice.jpg A group of 300 to 500 police officers (Even here, the estimates differ) formed a procession where several elected officials could be seen, including the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who leads the largest municipal police force in France.

All the demonstrators marched to denounce the government’s refusal โ€œto validate an agreement concluded between the association of mayors of France and the unionsโ€ on work allowances, according to the unions SUMPP, SNPM, and CFTC municipal police. A discussion was also supposed to be initiated to include the allowance in the calculation of retirement pensions, according to them.

In search of popularity and electoral sympathy but also an ardent defender of this local police force, Christian Estrosi, accompanied by Rudy Salles and the senator-mayor of Cagnes Louis Nรฉgre, wanted to give a more political significance to the demonstration* by once again criticizing the socialist government.

This is not the first time; already on the occasion of a protest by riding club owners, the mayor of Nice was seen showing solidarity with the demonstrators by marching on horseback.

A blurring of roles that his electoral opponents will certainly not hesitate to criticizeโ€ฆ
