“Civic happiness” a still underrepresented topic

Latest News

Citizen happiness is a topic still underrepresented in politics compared to the importance the French place on it. It is likely to influence their vote.

The 138 elected officials who responded to the supplementary survey sent to approximately 40,000 male and female politicians are the most convinced about citizen happiness. 91% of them declare that citizen happiness is a very important political issue for them.

Given the probable selection bias of the responding officials, it is likely that the other officials, meaning the 38,500 who did not respond, are significantly less convinced that citizen happiness is a political concern for the French people.

Yet, 72% of the French people declare that it is a major political concern. Furthermore, 79% state they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who aims to create favorable conditions for citizen happiness.

The French go even further, with 84% stating they would favor a candidate who embodies serenity through their personality.

Among the declared or anticipated presidential or primary candidates, Alain Juppรฉ (26%), Emmanuel Macron (12%), and Bruno le Maire (7%) are seen as the most serene, while Nicolas Sarkozy (36%), Manuel Valls (13%), and Jean-Luc Mรฉlenchon (12%) are viewed as the least serene.
