Côte d’Azur University is extending registrations for the DAEU, offered in-person, online or in work-study format. A national diploma equivalent to the baccalauréat, designed for adults wishing to resume studies, change direction or access tertiary sector jobs, with enhanced support and flexible arrangements.

The DAEU (diploma of access to university studies) is a national certification giving the same rights as the baccalauréat. Florence Baldelli, head of training development, recalls that “the DAEU is a nationally recognized diploma with the same status as the baccalauréat.” This equivalence allows students to enter higher education, sit category B administrative competitions or restart a professional career.

Côte d’Azur University offers three formats: in-person, online via the SONATE platform, and work-study. Leslie Gharibyan, academic advisor, clarifies that “training can be in-person, with daytime or evening courses, or online.” Candidates choose between a literary or scientific option. In Nice, in-person classes take place on the Saint‑Jean‑d’Angély campus.

Diverse profiles and enhanced support

The student body welcomed is broad. Florence Baldelli indicates that the university targets “primarily young people aged 20 to 25”, but also opens training to people with disabilities, to adults away from employment for several years and to candidates up to 50 years old via work-study contracts. The goal remains inclusion and equal opportunities. Pedagogical support adapts to needs, with regular monitoring and additional exercises to consolidate learning.

The work-study DAEU combines academic training and workplace immersion. This format builds confidence, professional skills and independence. “Many grow in maturity”, notes Leslie Gharibyan. Partner companies see it as a way to progressively integrate future employees.

Paths are diverse. Igor, 44, who arrived from Ukraine, sees it as an opportunity to improve his French level: “The DAEU guarantees us reaching a good language level.” Others find it a solution for a relative wishing to resume studies, like Adam, a master’s student in computer science.

Results from the last cohort demonstrate the program’s effectiveness, with a 100% success rate announced. Several students subsequently entered a bachelor’s degree via Parcoursup. The challenge remains attracting young people who no longer spontaneously walk through university doors. The team is therefore multiplying fieldwork in municipalities and neighborhoods.

Training costs €1,275 for in-person and €1,425 for online. The DAEU does not qualify for CROUS grants, but work-study allows students to complete the program with a paid contract. Registrations remain open until early October.
