2-80.jpg Nice-Première: Welcome to the Club House of Nice-Premium, but before entering, you must introduce yourself. Who is David Vendetta?

David Vendetta: I am a young DJ producer.

N-P: Yesterday, you were a pharmaceutical representative, today a DJ. Day and night! What attracts you to your current profession?

D.V.: I have always had a passion for electronic music since my childhood. I wanted to go behind the decks, do what I loved. I took the step. It’s my passion initially, and being able to live from my passion is a luxury! I am pleased to have changed professions since it has been successful! (Smile)

N-P: What are your musical origins?

D.V.: There are many, but mine have always been in electronic music. I used to listen a lot to a German band: Kraftwerk. I had all their albums. They were the precursors of electro music from 1976 when it was more the era of Rock or Disco. They already had a look! They were 20 years ahead. Musically, it was electronic music. This group included a sound engineer because at the time, composing a song wasn’t necessarily easy. They have inspired many groups like Depeche Mode.

N-P: Can you mix all music from around the world?

D.V.: I think so. When I mix, I don’t just play electro but also House with different musical origins. For example, in my track “Paradise Musica,” there was really an oriental scale. Right now, I’m preparing my album in which there will be a trip-hop track then a more vocal piece and others more underground, because I listen to a lot of things not just house.

N-P: Can you mix French songs?

D.V.: From the moment you buy a vinyl or a CD, you mix what you want. But I’m not too into French songs? I have more of an internationally musical culture. French, I do not connect!

N-P: How do you choose which song to mix and not another?

3-57.jpg D.V.: When I mix in clubs, I never prepare anything in advance. I always adapt according to the place and the audience in front of me. Of course, I always play key titles, favorites, my productions and among all this, I mix music to transport people depending on the atmosphere, the time … I won’t mix the same way at midnight or at 4 am. That’s really different, which is why I never prepare anything.

N-P: When you mix at a party, do you enjoy being behind your decks as much as on the dance floor?

D.V.: I seldom have the chance to be on the dance floor. I never go out to clubs when I mix. I mix every weekend in different places and when I’m not mixing, I’m in my studio working on my album. So, I never go out except to the clubs where I perform. Otherwise, before being a DJ, I used to take a lot of pleasure in dancing sometimes all night.

N-P: If I introduce myself as someone who has never set foot in a club, how would you describe this place to me?

D.V.: At the entrance, there is a barricade with bouncers who sort people out. To enter a renowned club, you must be very well dressed. The place is very pretty, the music is not just ‘boom boom’, it’s not really techno but rather House. Depending on the DJ who is behind the decks, the style will be different. It’s always very varied. There are Oriental, Indian, disco sounds … Everyone finds something in one of these styles.

N-P: Which clubs would you recommend?
