Festival It’s Not Classical: Women Shake Up the Music Scene!

Latest News

The festival C’est Pas Classique, organized for 14 years by the Alpes-Maritimes Department, once again opens classical music to the widest audience and proves that it is not the preserve of an elite, but indeed the heritage of all.

For three days, the festival will bring together a myriad of talented artists who, throughout an entire weekend, will give their best to introduce spectators from 0 to 99 years old to classical music in a different way.

It’s with this credo that women, as majesty of our modernity, enhance this edition, making it even more meaningful. Grand female voices will resonate for a musical journey that speaks volumes about the freedom and beauty of beings.

As a tribute to personalities involved through the ages in the equality of human conditions: Olympe de Gouges, Angela Davis, George Sand, Louise Weiss, or Eva Perón; discover the 3 highlight events of the C’est Pas Classique music festival, which for its 15th edition puts women at the forefront.

PIAF SYMPHONIQUE

This incredible opening night will resonate with the aura of Edith Piaf, masterfully performed by the fabulous Anne Carrere. Considered today as Piaf’s musical heir with her exceptional voice, strikingly similar, Anne embodies “la môme” and delivers to the audience a breathtaking performance of elegance, infinite accuracy, and sensitivity. A wave of modernity while preserving the essence of the era, this is the magic of this show in harmony with the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra.

DIVA

These 5 opera virtuosos dared the ambitious and successful project of revisiting six great works from the classical repertoire in a resolutely modern rock opera. The sopranos, with impeccable technique, are accompanied by a string quartet, thus performing the greatest lyrical arias: La Traviata, Carmen, Tosca… In extravagant outfits, these baroque icons shake conventions and democratize opera with this extraordinary show at the crossroads of cabaret, circus, and music hall, all in humor and joy.

CALLAS EN CONCERT: THE HOLOGRAM TOUR

Maria Callas, the absolute diva of opera, transports us through her recital in the 1960s, thanks to ultra-realistic hologram technology that perfectly recreates the distinctive mannerisms of the singer and tragic actress. Here set to music by the Orchestra of Cannes Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur (conducted by Eimear Noone, known for composing music for famous video games!), this exceptional show has already been presented at La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. More than just a concert, it’s a unique musical experience allowing everyone, both seasoned music enthusiasts and novices, to (re)discover the extraordinary emotional power of the one who remains, to this day, the “Voice of the Century.”
