France Télécom and the Nice University Hospital announce a partnership to evaluate and develop the use of new technologies in the field of healthcare.

France Télécom and the Nice University Hospital (CHU) announced the signing of a partnership agreement focusing on the development of Information and Communication New Technologies (NTIC) in the healthcare sector.

This partnership between the first multi-site CHU currently undergoing certification by the French National Authority for Health and the European leader in telecommunications research and development will enhance the sharing and flow of information, foster exchanges between healthcare professionals, and maintain patient contact under all circumstances, even remotely.

The partnership agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Jean-Jacques Romatet, General Manager of the Nice CHU, and Pascal Viginier, Executive Director of France Télécom in charge of R&D, at the R&D premises in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

By signing this partnership, France Télécom continues its commitment to the healthcare sector. Thanks to this initiative, researchers from the Group will have a rich area for experimenting with information and communication technologies applied to healthcare. They will be able to define the technical and financial conditions to consider in view of a commercial distribution of the technologies.

Four areas of application have been identified at this stage:
– Modalities for exchanging and sharing patient data between care facilities (Shared Patient Record or “DPP”). These will first be tested within the framework of the PACA East transplant network to enhance the coordination of the donor network, follow-up of transplant recipients, and management of care regarding risks and therapeutic procedures, according to the recommendations of the Agency for Bio-Medicine (ABM). These services could serve as a model and prefigure the future national transplant network.
– Innovative technologies and services aimed at healthcare professionals or patients, to develop public health prevention by informing, educating, and thereby aiming to empower patients.
– Communicable objects for the management of biological resources in order to foster development and exchanges with clinical research while improving quality and traceability.
– Solutions for crisis management, activation and management of alerts, and optimized support and care for patients in emergency situations.

This partnership allows the Nice University Hospital, a pioneer in developing quality approaches in hospitals, to affirm its role as a resource center, healthcare territory animator, and leader in the emergence and coordination of new health democracy on a regional and national scale.

This collaboration complements the existing partnership between Orange and the Nice CHU, established since November 2002. It aims to develop and experiment with innovative mobile services in the field of public health, such as SMSoleil, the first information and advice service on sun exposure risks, tested this summer in Nice. These actions are part of the “Orange Care” program, which aims to put innovation at the service of health and well-being.
