François Fillon draws crowds in Nice.

Latest News

During the launch of his electoral campaign in Nice, François Fillon talked about the main points of his program in front of a large crowd that had turned out in great numbers.

Buoyed by his almost unexpected success in the Republican primaries last November, François Fillon chose Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes to kick off his campaign. A simple coincidence? Probably not.

The PACA region has recently swung back to the right after 17 years of socialist governance (Christian Estrosi succeeded Michel Vauzelle as the head of the region), and, more notably, the former historical stronghold of Nicolas Sarkozy massively supported François Fillon during the primaries.

It seemed evident, therefore, that the people of Nice would turn out in large numbers for the designated candidate’s first campaign meeting, in the presence of many local elected officials and a very large audience.

An audience that was very responsive and enthusiastic during François Fillon’s speech, applauding each of his proposals, particularly those concerning immigration and the benefits allocated to people in irregular situations.
