Gabriella: goat herder and French triathlon champion

Latest News

At the Peïre-Gros Farm, Gabriella divides her time between her goats and her training: she is a triathlete!

Born on the farm, Gabriella knows every corner of her hills that are fragrant with scrubland. She knows the herbs that her goats love and graze on when she takes them out to pasture. “A goat is curious, it tastes everything!” she says, feeding them good organic hay from Crau when they return to the barn. Certified organic and Ecocert since its inception, the farm does not compromise on quality.

From these unique flavors, delicious cheeses are born, made from the raw milk provided by her herd of around forty crossbred alpine chamoisée goats. “Each goat produces an average of 3 to 4 liters of milk per day depending on the season, except during gestation (5 winter months)” she continues. Milking is done by hand, morning and evening. Gabriella prefers not to use the milking machine. In the form of tomes or crottins, her cheeses already delight local schoolchildren and some clients of specialized organic shops.

French Champion

While she runs after her goats daily, Gabriella also follows a much more demanding training regimen: the young woman is a triathlete. Initially noticed for her swimming skills—a passion born from watching Laure Manaudou on television—Gabriella joined the local triathlon club in 2011. At the farm, the small living room is filled with her trophies. In 2014, she won the title of French Triathlon Champion in the 20-24 age category in Nice. I was there and cried with joy alongside her.

Taking over the farm in 2014 did not in any way dampen the strong spirit of the young woman, who continues to train for 10 hours a week, with specific goals: 3 hours of swimming for distances of 3 to 5 km at the Aqualand pool, 2 hours of athletics at the Sainte-Maxime club, one bike ride on Sundays, ranging from 80 to 120 km… The calf is strong! To learn more, you will always have the excuse of going to buy some of her cheeses. Being a triathlete doesn’t pay much… Sponsors welcome!
