This evening at 6 PM, the National Museum of Sports will host the awards ceremony for the 3rd Côte d’Azur International FICTS Sport Film Festival.
The festival is organized by the International Federation of Sports Cinema (FICTS), an associate member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in partnership with the CDOS06, the local organizing committee, chaired by Ms. Claire Peradotto (vice president of UPE06).
The goal of this festival is to spread the values of sport and Olympism through images.
Student sessions have also been organized with Cavigal Basket and Nice Volley for the screening of an educational film: “Olympic Values,” published by the IOC.
Each edition features a cultural component on a specific theme. This year, the central theme was parasports. A symposium was organized by the Departmental Handisport Committee on Tuesday evening with many para-athletes in attendance.
The 3rd Côte d’Azur International Sport Film Festival is part of the World Challenge, which consists of 18 festivals worldwide throughout 2018.
The festival will conclude in Milan from November 14 to 19. On this occasion, the winners of the Azur challenge will be presented and will compete for the World Final.
Regarding the Azur edition, the jury – composed of Gérard Camy (president of Cannes cinema), Phillipe Manassero (president of CDOS06), Bernard Maccario (president of CREPS of the PACA region and president of the Friends of the National Sports Museum), and Jean Gérard Guarino (vice president of Panathlon) – evaluated 308 candidate films, of which 22 were selected, 10 were finalists, and 6 were winners across different categories.
A special jury prize will be awarded to the clip made by the TNN of Nice titled “When the eaglets reinterpret Shakespeare.”
The awards ceremony will take place in the presence of the president of FICTS, Mr. Franco Ascani, a member of the IOC’s culture and heritage commission.
Yelena Isinbayeva (double Olympic champion, world record holder in pole vault, and member of the International Olympic Committee) will receive the prize in the “Olympic film” category for her biopic titled “The Third.”
