The Château Festival in Nice will indeed take place this year. The 71st edition will be held on the Castle Hill from June 30 to July 1.
Organized for 70 years, the traditional event of the French Communist Party was canceled in 2017 for financial reasons, as the security costs had become too high following the attack on July 14, 2016.
“We are subject to very significant security conditions set by the prefecture: frisking by security guards at the entrance, barriers to define the space, security guards to monitor emergency exits, and no vehicles allowed on the hill road,” explained at the time Cécile Dumas, the departmental secretary of the party in the Alpes-Maritimes.
Entry is free and allows access to the two stages, where artists will perform starting at 8 PM. Out of these 14 groups, 13 are local.
