In December 2011, in the nurseries and leisure centers (Planète Récré) of the city of Nice, children made lovely greeting cards for the new year addressed to their elders residing in the sheltered housing and retirement homes of the Communal Social Action Center of Nice. Each child carefully created a personalized card, which was then delivered to the residents.
– On Wednesday, January 11, children and the elderly had the opportunity to share their impressions and emotions about this exchange of letters during a magic show and a snack.
The city of Nice regularly organizes these types of festive and fun meetings. The objective is to create social connections between generations and to encourage the opening of senior residences and early childhood and youth establishments to the life of the city.
Throughout January, other meetings are planned in the residences and within the Early Childhood establishments of Nice involved.
The priority of this social action is the well-being and pleasure of meeting. The children and the elderly learn to “know” and “recognize” each other, identifying what separates them and what connects them. These moments of exchange, regularly organized, are each time filled with emotions on both sides.
