For three days, throughout the weekend from October 5th to 7th, Mouans-Sartoux will become the azure capital of culture. Books and ideas are at the heart of the Festival and, like multiple stars in a constellation, shine around this coreโcinema, music, literary concerts, art, song, poetry, street music, readings, debates, encountersโฆ bringing books to life!
“They extinguish the stars with cannon fire… they even assassinated the constellations… It is high time to relight the stars” (G. Apollinaire)
For its 25th edition, the Mouans-Sartoux Book Festival has decided to be resolutely optimistic. Optimistic and lucid.
Even though crises of all kinds seem to be fracturing the world and disheartening humanity as a whole, the Arab Spring is struggling on its path toward democracy, poverty is gaining ground daily on street corners and around the world, finance has seized all areas of everyday life, thought struggles to overcome the spreading pessimism, and new wars erupt on the planet, together with Guillaume Apollinaire, the indignant from all over the world dream of a new world, of putting away the cannons and igniting the hope of peace, of giving imagination the space to invent a less bleak 21st century.
Where are the seeds of change, the leaven of novelty, the sparks of a brighter future?
Who are the heralds of tomorrow’s world, the bearers of new ideas, the thinkers and artisans of our planet’s survival, the stars of a more human, more fraternal world?
The old world seems to have lived its time, how can a new one be envisaged?
Modestly, the Mouans-Sartoux Book Festival strives to contribute its share to reflection by bringing together citizens, thinkers, creators, decision-makers, women, and men who are changing the world.
With its 250 volunteers, the Book Festival and the entire town are looking forward to: 350 authors, 200 publishers and booksellers, 20 films, 50 debates, 3 concerts, 5 exhibitions.
