OGC Nice officially announced on Monday the end of its collaboration with Florian Maurice. Arriving in summer 2024 as sporting director, the former Stade Rennais executive is leaving the Côte d’Azur club after two seasons spent under the red and black colors.
A separation by mutual agreement between OGC Nice and Florian Maurice
OGC Nice and Florian Maurice have decided to end their collaboration by mutual agreement. The decision was announced on Monday evening, a few days after the club secured its place in Ligue 1 through the playoff against Saint-Étienne.
Appointed sporting director in summer 2024, Florian Maurice joined the Gym from Stade Rennais. Over two seasons, the executive participated in the development of the Nice club’s sporting project.
This end of collaboration comes at the end of a particularly difficult season for the Eagles. The season was notably marked by the fight for survival. OGC Nice secured its place in the elite of French football thanks to its victory in the playoffs against Saint-Étienne following a 0-0 draw in the first leg and then a 4-1 victory.
Florian Maurice’s time at Nice was also marked by a tense episode that occurred on November 30 with supporters. Following a defeat at Lorient, a confrontation with supporters had deeply affected the sporting director. Despite this incident, Florian Maurice continued his mission until the end of the season.

When announcing this departure, Maurice Cohen wanted to pay tribute to the work carried out over these two years. « Florian was unanimously appreciated at the club for his human qualities and professionalism. Despite sometimes difficult circumstances, he remained fully invested and committed to the team’s objectives until the very end. We thank him for his commitment and wish him the best for the future. »
OGC Nice also thanked Florian Maurice for the work accomplished, his professionalism and his daily involvement over the two seasons spent at the club.
The question of succession now open
The name of the future sporting director has not yet been revealed by Nice’s management. Several possibilities have however been mentioned in recent weeks. Grégory Lorenzi was among the profiles mentioned to succeed Florian Maurice. The former Stade Brestois executive ultimately signed with Olympique de Marseille.
Geoffrey Moncada now appears among the names mentioned to join OGC Nice. The executive notably worked for eight years at AC Milan.
With the departure of Florian Maurice, a new chapter opens for OGC Nice’s sporting direction.
