Patrick Allemand denounces the 2 million euro reduction in the subsidy to the Tourist Office!

After last Friday’s City Council meeting during which the budgets (main and annexes) for 2017 were voted on, analyses are becoming more detailed…

Patrick Allemand (PS) revisits a key argument for the economy of Nice and its region: the City’s subsidy to the Tourism Office, which includes the municipal share of the tourist tax and is steadily increasing: 5.4 million euros in 2015, 6.9 million euros in 2016, and 7.2 million euros in 2017.

For him, “the City’s subsidy to the Tourism Office should have increased. On the contrary, this subsidy has decreased, going from 9.8 million euros in 2016 to 9.35 million euros in 2017, which is an apparent decrease of 450,000 euros. However, taking into account the increase in the tourist tax, the net contribution of the city has, in reality, decreased by 2 million euros.”

For the socialist elected official: “This is totally unacceptable as we are coming out of such a difficult year with the aftermath of the July 14 attack, the impact it had on our immediate tourism activity, and more lasting on the image of the Côte d’Azur, now considered a risk area.”
