Rudy Salles: “I am not worried”

Rudy Salles, in a favorable position to seek a new term as a deputy, held a press conference this Tuesday afternoon. The Nouveau Centre candidate, supported by the UMP, discussed the first round of the legislative elections while looking towards the future.

In the first round, Rudy Salles led the vote in the 3rd constituency ahead of Christine Dorejo (PS).

The deputy from the azure region wanted to revisit the campaign conducted in this district. “Throughout this campaign, I felt a bit unsatisfied… Many candidates were not familiar with the constituency,” he lamented before adding, “these candidates did not propose real ideas. They preferred to attack me as could be seen during the debate on France-Bleu Azur.”

Furthermore, Rudy Salles appeared very confident for the second round. “I am not worried,” he assured.

For Rudy Salles, it is important to have right-wing deputies in Nice and on the Côte d’Azur. “If tomorrow we have a socialist deputy, it will cause problems. When they go up to Paris, they will go against our ideas while we live in a right-wing city and department,” he stated.

“Politics is not an exact science”

The deputy still hopes for a cohabitation. For him, the right still has a chance to be the majority in the National Assembly. “Politics is not an exact science. In 2007, we were promised a right-wing tidal wave for the legislative elections, but that was not the case. Anything is still possible until Sunday.”

The future of the right was also discussed. Like the left, which multiplies alliances, Rudy Salles would like to see a pluralistic right. “We need to lay a lot of things bare. Within the UMP, not all political figures agree: Fillon does not necessarily think like Copé,” he reminded.
