A new toy in exchange for a concert ticket. Solidarity as the backdrop. The principle of this 7th edition of the music festival “Santa Claus Turns Up the Volume” has not changed. The association La Baie des Arts, led by students from Edhec Business School, is organizing a series of four concerts throughout the week. The goal: to bring together hundreds of music lovers while working for a good cause. This formula already exists, notably in Lille, where it is called “Santa Claus is a rocker” (with a music program of the same name).
The previous year’s edition disappointed in attendance, so the association La Baie des Arts decided to schedule a less exhaustive lineup. “The audience was not fully present in 2005. To avoid this, we decided to focus on Old Nice and reduce the number of events,” explains its president Antoine Hours. Together with his team from Edhec (including Christophe Cregut, Secretary General), he has taken the reins of “Santa Claus Turns Up the Volume” this year. Music lovers can rest assured, as rock, jazz, pop, and soul will indeed be featured. The Memories, Tapenga, the Squatters, and Jean-Marc Jafet (already participating in 2005) were immediately drawn to the idea and are honoring the event with their presence.
An eclectic program focused on the city center is designed to attract a large audience. And more audience equals more toys for disadvantaged and hospitalized children in Nice. A little useful detail for the forgetful who might have failed to buy a toy before one of the concerts, they can donate money. The association will then use it for the same purpose.
Starting from December 15, the association will distribute its “booty,” especially to hospitalized children from the Fondation-Lenval. As a reminder, about a thousand toys were collected during the 2005 edition. If their “war treasure” is substantial, the hospital in Antibes could also benefit from this just cause. All that’s left is to cross our fingers and hope for a human tsunami to flood the concerts. A wave of welcome affection in this holiday season.
