Socialist primary for the PACA Region: Patrick Allemand defeated by Christophe Castaner

Latest News

Patrick Allemand’s challenge for the Socialist candidate nomination for the upcoming PACA regional elections in December was cut short.

His competitor, Christophe Castaner, the deputy-mayor of Forcalquier (and former advisor and Vice-President of the PACA Region), was endorsed by the registered members from the first round, which took place last night.

Even though the result is not yet definitive or official, he is said to have received 55% of the votes compared to 31% for Patrick Allemand and 14% for Elsa Di Meo, the young and dynamic youngest candidate who has shown she has all the qualities for a promising career.

Once again, it was the votes from Marseille that made the difference!

The 1,080 votes collected by Castaner in the voting booths of the 13th district (compared to 564 for Patrick Allemand and 178 for Elsa Di Meo) were the key to success.

In other partial results: in the Alpes-Maritimes, the candidate from Nice received 87% of the votes, while in the Var it was again Castaner who came out victorious with 318 votes (Di Meo 195, Allemand 66).

After this contest, which unfolded in the utmost sportsmanship (at least in appearance), the socialists are now facing a tougher challenge: rallying the left around their candidate and competing against two potentially winning adversaries, Jean-Marie Le Pen for the FN, and the UMP candidate (no primary for the right!) who could very well be the candidate from Nice, Eric Ciotti.
