This Friday at Cassini Quay (to the left of the stairs), Cristòu Daurore, President of the Republic of Nice, and Jòrgi Grilli, Prime Minister of the Republic of Nice, on the eve of the arrival of tramway line 2 at the port, unveiled the plaque of Quay Garibaldi.
The birthplace of Pepin Garibaldi (1807-1882) was located on this quay, which was demolished following the expansion of the Lympia port.
This hero of two worlds (Europe and Latin America) was chosen in 2013 by the supporters of OGC Nice to name one of the two largest stands at the Allianz Riviera stadium.
Furthermore, the City of Nice inaugurated a statue of him at the Ségurane-Garibaldi station on December 9th last year, created by the artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest. Finally, the Port school will soon bear his name, and the 10 Nissarts banknote (local currency of Nice) features his likeness.
