The Delvalle medical center was inaugurated in Nice.

Christian Estrosi, accompanied by healthcare professionals, inaugurated the Delvalle Medical Center on June 25, just a stone’s throw from the Pasteur Hospital. The objectives of this new facility: to offer a diversity of local healthcare services while alleviating the pressure on the Nice University Hospital (CHU).

Alongside healthcare professionals, Christian Estrosi inaugurated the Delvalle Medical Center at 27 Rue du Professeur Delvalle. This marks an additional step in the effort to better distribute healthcare personnel throughout the area. Faced with the shortage of general practitioners, this medical center stands as an alternative, offering local care and implementing preventive measures, in a crowded neighborhood.

A Multifunctional Medical Center

This medical center hosts general practitioners, hospital doctors, private doctors, psychologists, and midwives. It focuses on screening, vaccinations, and health workshops. The Delvalle Medical Center is multifunctional and provides โ€œall the answers gathered in one place,โ€ according to Christian Estrosi.

The goal of the Delvalle Medical Center is also to focus on youth. โ€œI hope we can develop this center with a university angle, particularly to train interns who might eventually continue practicing in the neighborhood,โ€ explained Julie Contenti, head of the emergency medicine department at the Nice CHU.

She also highlighted the ambitious goals, stressing the need to โ€œmeet the demand for unscheduled care.โ€ Ensuring a medical presence to bring not just happiness but health.

Improving the Neighborhood’s Medical Presence

The reality is well-known and alarming: there are not enough doctors. This is the paradox of this particular neighborhood in Nice, despite the presence of Pasteur Hospital. The location, across from the CHU, was planned beforehand: one cannot function without the other. A strategic location to combine prevention and care actions on the same site, thus providing the neighborhood with a strong medical presence.

โ€œWe really needed this medical center. Because there are the emergencies nearby, but you can never be sure you’ll be seen with so many people. So this is progress,โ€ exclaimed a neighborhood resident who attended the inauguration of the Delvalle center. Indeed, this infrastructure has been designed to be a living space, open to the neighborhood.

The Need to Relieve Overcrowding

โ€œWe reached 100,000 people per year at the CHU,โ€ explained Christian Estrosi. This number has doubled compared to previous years. โ€œIn June, we tripled emergency visits; itโ€™s an exponential and relentless phenomenon,โ€ added the mayor of Nice. The primary role of this medical center is also to relieve the Pasteur Hospital, which can no longer cope with this massive influx of patients who can no longer find general practitioners. โ€œWe need to ease the pressure on the emergencies while involving them,โ€ Estrosi explained.

According to Julie Contenti, the medical center represents a โ€œgreat success,โ€ but there are still many objectives to achieve. In this dynamic, Christian Estrosi announced the upcoming opening of a new medical center on Rue dโ€™Italie. โ€œWe have other projects where we are conducting studies, and we will present the programs in the futureโ€ the mayor stressed. Because health cannot wait.
