“I thank the partners who made this renovation possible for preserving a traditional Niçoise house. I am happy to see that this way the Cimiez neighborhood is rejuvenating thanks to this operation.” Jean-Pierre Mangiapan, general councillor, sees in the silhouette of the new and satisfied tenants an opportunity to revitalize a Niçois neighborhood with such a little dynamic image. The 7 apartments (1 T2 and 6 T3) are ideal for young couples with very affordable rents for Nice: €416 for the T2 and €508 for the T3s. They are allocated under P.L.S (Prêt Locatif Social). This inauguration is in fact a symbol confirmed by the words of Prefect Dominique Vian: “The place and the operation are symbolic. They show what we want: to maintain a city with a skilled alchemy, to rebuild the city on the city by relying on its past.” The prefect reminds us that the department is attractive and that we must constantly seek and find additional housing so that every worker can throughout their life choose their dwelling according to their desires.
The Senator Mayor Jacques Peyrat does not elude the housing crisis and proudly announces: “The city of Nice provided 1,100 housing units in 2005. We promised 1,800 units over five years in 2003, with 700 more, we will have met our target. Of the 200,000 m² of Nice Méridia, 40,000 will be reserved for accommodating workers.”
The City of Nice has effectively accelerated the pace under the threat of the State and its sanctions on cities that did not comply with ANRU. Sanctions that were not, as Prefect Dominique Vian pointed out, slightly criticizing Jacques Peyrat. “The sanctions” in fact transform into subsidies for other municipalities, a basic system of redistribution of goods.
One certainty, with the architectural quality, the interior comfort of the building, and the geographic location, many Niçois must be envious of these seven new tenants.
