On the ground floor, you can find six artists with very different approaches in appearance, structure, and materials. Through textile practices, fabrication, sewing, and weaving (Maria Colonna, Sophie Losson, Marcel Alocco) or those involving heavy materials, colored pastes, plasters, and reinforced concrete (Michèle Brondello, Martin Miguel), or even the questioning of the truth-lie of the artistic object through simulated restoration acts or brutal denunciation (“Io mento,” writes William Xerra). These involve the successive layers of the work in its personal and historical history played out by these six artists.
In the basement, the young artists Isabella Genovese, Francesca Manetta, Claudia Valla, trained in various disciplines at the Brera School, make up the group “Coccodrilli a Monovella” created in Piacenza (Italy). The “Coccodrilli a Manovella” have been working for three years on evolving installations indoors or outdoors: following the three stages of “Hortus” presented in Italy in 2007 and 2008, a Nice-based exhibition will focus on the theme of the mysterious transformation of the chrysalis.
Marcel Alocco invites: Opening on Thursday, May 15 at 6 pm
