Holidays, I forget everything, nothing left to do at all… Nice Premium went to meet some residents of Nice to see if the lyrics of this summer song are still relevant.
From Marie Chantal Gomiz (communications manager at Casino Ruhl) to Patrick Allemand (Vice-President of the PACA Regional Council), via Rudy Salles (UDF Deputy) or Gaël Nofri (Advisor to Jacques Peyrat UMP) let’s discover what made their holidays and the memories they brought back in their luggage.
Nice Premium: What are you going to do, or what did you do during your holidays?
Marie Chantal Gomiz: Only a few days actually, but of intense quality, in Corsica at St Florent for the Nuits Guitares de Patrimonio and discovering Cap Corse, with a walk in Balagne at Ile Rousse and Calvi.
NP: What is the best memory you brought back?
MCG: Having the feeling of being “alone in the world,” even in high season, nestled in the small inlets of Cap Corse, towards Tollare and Macinaggio… with my lover,…, the warm and friendly welcome of the inhabitants of the Island of Beauty. A special mention to Alex and Patricia from the Maloni Hotel in St Florent.
And then, we are spoiled: Nice, its surroundings, and the Côte d’Azur in general, give us the particular joy of enjoying a holiday climate year-round.
NP: Finally, holidays and resolutions for the new school year. What are yours?
MCG: My resolutions for the new school year? To tackle the event, artistic, and gaming season with drive and enthusiasm. Promote Texas Hold’Em Poker (a game that arouses incredible enthusiasm among a younger clientele) at the Casino Barrière de Menton and soon at the Ruhl in Nice, extend the slots park in Menton (14 new slot machines from August 17 and as many by Christmas), the new international show every weekend at the Cabaret du Ruhl, which will start early October and promises memorable evenings featuring dance, singing, and grand illusion. Continue to offer exhibitions in partnership with Ambre International, to discover and appreciate the multitude of talents of our local musicians….
Thank you to the Nice Premium team for accompanying us each day throughout the summer, delivering the news of Nice and the surrounding area with accuracy and skill.
Nice Premium: What are you going to do, or what did you do during your holidays?
Patrick Allemand: The holidays are behind me.
I went from July 15 to August 4. I love the long days of July, and I enjoy working in August.
It was half by the sea in Cassis and half in the mountains in Valberg.
Regional holidays.
NP: What is the best memory you brought back?
PA: I do not seek to bring back the best memory from my holidays.
It’s everything; it’s especially the only time I am 100% available for my family; I am almost reproached for being too present at those times as they have lost the habit of having me home throughout the year.
If I had to choose one, I’d remember the climb of the Col de la Cayolle by bike. It had been 20 years since I’d climbed such a pass. I didn’t think I was capable. 2h10 for 26 kilometers, I took my time.
NP: Finally, holidays and resolutions for the new school year. What are yours?
PA: I have not kept my goals for the new school year a secret… before leaving, on holiday.
Nothing has changed!
Nice Premium: What are you going to do, or what did you do during your holidays?
Rudy Salles: I spent a few days in the Gard with family and friends. Upon returning, I continue my holidays in Nice enjoying my home, the many exhibitions and shows offered by the region, evenings with friends, the beach, etc. The whole world envies us the Côte d’Azur. We who have the chance to live here, let’s appreciate it.
NP: What is the best memory you brought back?
RS: There are plenty but I had a memorable descent of the Gardon by canoe kayak with passage under the Pont du Gard. It was very physical because we had to paddle and paddle again, but the site was so extraordinary that the landscapes crossed will remain in my memory for a long time. And I will also remember the laughs this descent gave us.
NP: Finally, holidays and resolutions for the new school year. What are yours?
RS: My holidays are also studious. Apart from continuing the holidays, I take advantage to work on thinking about the new school year and especially the upcoming electoral deadlines. The municipal elections will take place next March. So I am thinking about the future of Nice, its projects, the teams that will implement them. In short, I am preparing!
Nice Premium: What are you going to do, or what did you do during your holidays?
Gaël Nofri: Few holidays actually, I stayed the entire month of July in Nice, and I will also spend the last twenty days of August here, except for some trips to attend various summer universities or political meetings at the end of August – early September.
However, I spent ten days on the island where I was born, in Corsica. Incidentally, I found by chance many people from the Riviera who were also spending their holidays there.
I first took three days of sailing and diving in Saint Florent, on the west coast. I had the opportunity to enjoy the Mediterranean, the sun, girls in swimsuits… music in the evenings and a bit of fishing during the day.
Then, seven days in the mountains at Vizzavona, at 1200 meters altitude, in the heart of the island. I mainly spent my time doing small hiking trips, reading, and a bit of writing… I must say that with temperatures dropping to eight degrees in the morning, it was nice to escape the heat. So I took advantage, as I said, to walk a bit, without forcing, unpretentious, just to clear my mind, settle down, reflect, take stock…
However, I stayed in constant contact with Nice particularly to keep informed about the case of the Chéret Museum theft that really caught my attention. And also, for lots of little things related to neighborhood life but which, in my opinion, are quite important daily…
NP: What is the best memory you brought back?
GN: Plenty! Lots of good memories, good times, laughs, and amusing photos. But what really marks the holidays for me, what I take away above all, is the joy of being reunited with loved ones. Seeing all my family again, childhood friends, recalling memories and anecdotes from past years, creating new ones for the coming year—is priceless…
NP: Finally, holidays and resolutions for the new school year. What are yours?
GN: Yes, I’ve made a few resolutions. Nothing really new but the summer allows me each time to take stock of what has worked and what hasn’t, what I enjoyed and what disappointed me, what I expect and what I no longer wish for… This year I made four good resolutions:
– Continue to work for what I believe is the good of Nice, to pursue and amplify the work of listening, proximity, and action initiated with the Nice Génération Espoir association by playing an active role at the upcoming electoral deadlines.
– Develop [my blog](https://gael-nofri.over-blog.fr) so that it becomes more lively, more interactive, and so I can use it as a link with everyone interested in my activity and that of the Association without having the time to be present everywhere.
– I also plan to continue my writing work. Maybe think about a second book, on a completely different subject this time.
Most likely something that would relate to the Mediterranean issue, environmental and co-development questions, History, and exchanges between Civilizations. It is currently just a project, but I am working on it.
– And then, in a more private domain, I think I’m going to do some sport. I really need it…
