Carnival 2013: Inauguration of Four “Made in” l’Ariane Floats

Latest News

At the Django Reinhardt space, in the heart of Ariane, four floats have been inaugurated. One of them, the globe, will parade for the Nice Carnival. The others will be dedicated to neighborhood Carnivals. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the ATE association.

These four floats, entirely built in Ariane, were displayed in front of the Django Reinhardt hall yesterday at 3 p.m. Among them, the globe of the ATE association will participate in the Official Carnival. This float represents the work of the association, which for 60 years has been dedicated to welcoming and housing migrants from five continents, hence the globe.

The four floats were presented around lively entertainment: a face painting workshop and snacks were offered to the children along with a classic yet inevitable confetti battle. It should be noted that the children also contributed to the construction of the floats. This was followed by the opening of the exhibition “Neighborhood Carnivals and a Tribute to the Carnival Designer Alex Mignone,” by the Carnival historian, Annie Sidro. These floats will participate from February 10 to March 13 in fifteen neighborhood Carnivals and the Independent Carnival.

The Occitan Cultural Center, another creator of one of the floats, chose to honor the return of the “passatgin” in the port of Nice, representing it with a mermaid on board and giving it the nissart name Beluga. The CAL Django Reinhardt created an extravagant octopus with carnival colors. Finally, the “Ariane Progress” neighborhood committee created a guitarist in homage to the gypsy community of the neighborhood.
